Napkin stains left behind when we leave the restaurant can easily be laundered out using powder or chlorine-based detergents. Laundry water isn't very effective on steak stains, however. This hinders the stains from being rinsed out. Downtown Vancouver dentist Fotolia_6869461_XS.jpg

It's just like using dogs to catch fugitives. They start by smelling the clothes or anything else that was handled by the fugitive. Detergents, like clothing, put water to the 'scent' of the stain. The detergent and the water end up gnawing tough on the stain. So when the water is flushed away, the stain goes with it.

Eliminating fatty stains is simple. You just have to take the piece of clothing and let it marinate in warm soapy water. But take care to read the laundry label to ensure that the fabric won't shrink if you put it in warm water.

Some detergents even break down protein enzymes. These are mainly for killing microbes so your clothing surfaces smelling like it was just made yesterday. Microwaves are also handy for getting rid of stains and fabric odors.

Napkin stains are easy to spot. What isn't as easy to discern is red wine, the other part of a steak dinner causing stains.

If oil is useful for a car motor, than red wine is useful for our heart. The French think that is true so they started drinking red wine like juice. They have a habit of eating so much fat but do not seem to be affected by it, owing to the massive amounts of red wine they consume.

Drinking too much wine will not only cause a great deal of injury to your liver, but also deposit huge stains on your teeth that will be impossible to remove. This is owing to the fact that red wine (and coffee) contain tannins. Most everyone will end up with such stains, no matter what our nationality.

Regrettably, when we begin to see the stains, all our teeth have most likely been affected. Nothing to fuss over. We have Downtown Vancouver dental veneers available in my office that can take care of even the worst tooth stains. And what's better, you can drink a fair amount of red wine without fretting over your teeth turning brown!
