Notify Dentist of Downtown Vancouver Dental Crown Pain
Imagine buying a new set of contact lenses. It is likely that you'd go back to the shop where you bought it or your eye doctor so they will be able to give you an exact fit. You can have a similar situation with your teeth, especially upon getting a Downtown Vancouver dental crown.
We have follow-up consultations a month or so from when you got your Downtown Vancouver dental crown. A second visit makes sense because we can avoid any untoward complications.
Pain, numbness and a tingling sensation are signs to look out for. Should you feel anything, you should make an appointment with us quick as you can. Maybe it's something minor but you can't say for sure. Come see me quickly because we don't want it to deteriorate.
If you feel tingling and numbness, it may have to do with what was done to your tooth when we scraped parts of it away. It could also be your gums. They would be getting back to normal, having been through much punishment while we put in your crown.
Or, it is possible that the underside of the dental crown may not be exactly articulating with your "real" tooth. In basic terms, the crown does not fit properly on to the tooth.
Sometimes, it could be because of the lack of cement. And the lower part of the Downtown Vancouver dental crown has failed to stick to the inner part of the tooth, or dentine. Such a scenario means your dentine will be uncovered whenever your have something cold or hot to drink. This is the reason you get that skin-crawling feeling, like the uncomfortable tingle of rubbing your nails on a chalkboard.
Lastly, I may have exposed an underlying problem with the nerve root. This probably happened while prepping the tooth to accept your new Downtown Vancouver dental crown. It is quite a common ailment because of the punishment the teeth had endured before we started the treatment. I've seen some really bad teeth in my day.
The ideal way to treat it is a root canal to clear out the mess from your nerve root and give you back your crown.
