Downtown Vancouver Dental Crown - Different Prices for Different Materials
There are cheap dental crowns and there are expensive dental crowns. The more costly crowns are made from precious materials. They last a very long time, and they get along just fine under the pressure of the everyday chewing and grinding put upon them by your teeth. You will end up with a more enduring dental crown if you opt for a dental crown that costs you a little more.
When I give advice to my patients, a dental crown is usually my first suggestion, if I see a good number of fillings and it appears that the tooth is on the brink of destruction. What's more, if I see a fracture from the top of the tooth near the root, a dental crown will most likely be the best way to go.
Resin dental crowns are less expensive. However, they are only short-term answers that may be more expensive than you first think. Installing a resin crown usually means that it doesn't take very long for that rupture to get bad. This defeats the purpose of installing a crown. Crowns are used to help you avoid cracks in your teeth, so ending up with more is not the goal.
Gold and other precious metal alloys are the average-priced crowns. They are the choice made most often by Downtown Vancouver dental crown professionals, for the perform well even considering the strain your jaw puts on them. Moreover, they mitigate the damage that could be caused to the tooth on the other side of your mouth. The crown keeps the other tooth from getting ground down. A resin dental crown won't provide such a benefit.
Generally, porcelain crowns are more costly than gold. Porcelain crowns are popular with a lot of people, because they are the same color as their own teeth. A metal crown tends to stick out like a sore thumb. Others don't care that metal crowns are noticeable, since gold makes for a more durable crown.
